Mine was accepted a couple of weeks ago, we visited last week, and she fell in love with it. mom2collegekids is the resident expert, but since you and I have senior daughters in the same boat, and we just got back from a trip there, I’d be happy to chat by pm (or here) if you have any questions I could answer. Though I should warn you, my daughter’s one of those girls who chose UA (in part) because of all the traditions. She can’t wait to dress up for the football games! :)

Typically by the spring. However, if you want particular housing, you need to get deposits in by - I think - March the latest - for best housing choices. (others, please correct me if I’m wrong)

If I recall, March 1 is the priority reply deadline. Yes, May 1 is the official deadline, but choices for housing will be very limited (most will have already picked their rooms). Consider the deadline to be March 1. If waiting for other schools to reply, strongly consider putting a deposit down at UA and then later canceling it if you decide to attend another school.

Don’t you first have to pay the $250.00 nonrefundable deposit to the school before you can make a housing deposit? I really do not want to lose that 250 if she decides to attend elsewhere. Also, financial aide information is not available yet at that early a date.

The housing deposit is $250, the enrollment deposit is only $200. Yes, you do have to pay the enrollment deposit before the housing deposit. If you cancel, you’ll be out $225 of the $450.

I mailed my app on the 16th and I think I was contacted on the 17th with a notice that I hadn’t sent in the application fee or scholarship application. I called the next day to let them know that they were wrong and had received both, but I ended up having to email Mrs Schernavia Hall my SAT waiver which she has recently added.

About how long should it be before I receive the good/bad news?

Thanks for letting me know my PM box is full. I’ve fixed it now. :)

You’ll get your GOOD news next week I think! :)

I believe it will come in two letters. First, a business-sized envelope, and then a big envelope. Sometimes they come on the same day, sometimes they don’t. Weird. (I still don’t know why they come in two envelopes.)

Since you’re a NASF, you’ll first get the Presidential scholarship (which should also come very soon), and then when you’re named a finalist (which I believe you will be ), you’ll get the big scholarship. :)

I didn’t get an official email about my admissions status, but I just checked my crimsonmail (<a href=“Server error”>Server error) and got this email about my honors application:

heck yes! I only cared about getting into the University. Getting into either honors program would be nice, but I don’t care about that too much.

Go back to MyBama and click on the Academics tab. Someone told me that students who’ve been admitted will find the below in the left column in the second box. One of the moms on this board noticed this on her D’s MyBama before the formal notification. I think when she clicked on Submit Freshman Enrollment Deposit , she got some notice (she didn’t have to actually pay at that point).

-Application Major Change

By the way, I see that there is a link to change one’s application major for admitted students.

That was me and I am sorry I am sort of sorry i started poking around that site. Although dd was thrilled to realize she was in, I think she would have been more excited to open up that envelope (which came the next day). Lesson learned for me is that if I come across anything else online, I am keeping my mouth shut and letting her discover it for herself.

I’m glad that you discovered that early way of finding out about one’s acceptance. :)

I can understand that you wanted your DD to find out for herself, but I’m glad that you shared with us this way of learning before snail mail arrives. I wonder how long that link was there at the time you found it. :)

The fee enrollment thing didn’t work. It still doesn’t show that I’m admitted on the site or in an email. The honors app said I was admitted though…

Edit: I just called to make sure and they said that I was admitted for the Fall 2010 term.
