Needing advice

I'm a rising senior right now. I have an unweighted GPA of 3.9 out of a 4.0 scale. I have about 8 APs. I have an SAT score of 2290 This sounds like i'm boasting... lol..., but I'm proud of what i have achieved in my extracurriculars. leaderships. service. etc. anyhow, right b4 my senior year, I caused some trouble of fighting with someone, and I got expelled. HOw will this affect my chance of getting into the universities that I want to get into? And I realized how most people said you need to be honest about it and fill in the "yes" on the part where it asks whether u got expelled or not on the common app. I agree with that, but how should I write the extra paper explaining the situation and what I learned from it? And how long should it be approximately? Any other suggestions on this? It really sucks how one sudden instinct killed my three years of effort... Thanks for your help, ppl.

Well depending on what school you are applying to, it may go any way. If it is a state university or a small time college, you probably should not even be worried. If it is a prestigious or semi-prestigious school, you should explain as much as you can but be concise.

Remember, :
“Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not that the writer make all his sentences short, or that he avoid all detail and treat his subjects only in outline, but that every word tell.” - William Shrunk Jr., “Elements of Style”

I believe that’s “Strunk”

Indeed it is Strunk.

Take this question to your guidance counselor. He/she should have some useful ideas about how to approach this in your applications.
