Needing help in college, don't know what to do!

Hello, I am, as in the title, needing help.

First, I'll state a little about myself so you can see where I'm comming from. I went to a local school close to my house for my first 2 1/2 years of High school, then in January (this is my Jr year) switched to another school, due to several reasons. The new school has a I.T Academy, it is the 'highest' technlogy rated school in the county, and it is a brand new school. Also I have know/been friends with the Tech Specialist for years, ever since I was in high school.
I left my own school because I didn't earn good grades, mostly because I wasn't interested in anything at my old school, so I switched over. Now I have strait A's. I'm a technology buff, I even have my own server/rack setup in my room with a severely complicated network...

I really want to go to Stanford or maybe Polytech (allthough I'm not to big on the area its in). Mostly, due to Stanford is real close to Apple Hq, which is where I want to end up. The only problem is, I got behind in my old school. Now I'm having to take Alg 2, Geometry next year. I just started Spanish I this year as well.

What is the requirements for Stanford? I'm having a hard time figuring out what they want, and plus, I'm not to knowledgeable on colleges, processes on how to get in, what I need to do, etc. Can someone point me in the right direction or give me some helpful advice on what I need to do?

Thanks in Advance,
~J

There are technically no requirements for Stanford. However, Stanford is extremely competitive and admits students with strong academic backgrounds. Typically, the students attending take advanced classes and receive high marks in them. Like most top colleges, Stanford wants to see students that are sure to continue down the path of academic excellence.

If you are behind in your classes, I suggest taking a course over the summer. You also want to stock up on advanced placement classes your senior year to challenge yourself. Extracurriculars (school activities and community involvement) are also very important.

There is no particular formula to get into any school. But what you have to do is find a degree of seperation from the other applicants. What makes YOU stand out as an individual? What can YOU contribute to Stanford?

You stated that you are a technology buff. That makes you stand out. Use that as a basis. You should join some clubs that deal with technology. Your college essay could center around your interest in technology.

I hope that I have helped. I wish you the best of luck. :)
