Needing information about my transfer

I've been at San Francisco State University for two years now and have completed 79 units. My GPA is around a 3.2, which is not outstanding, and certainly not up to UC transfer standards. This is why I want to attend the Santa Rosa Junior College, to raise my GPA without having to worry about the unit cap, and hopefully transfer to UCLA or Berkeley. Is this even possible?

I've also been enrolled at SFSU as a cinema major, which really holds no interest for me, and want to change my major to history. Since I am junior standing at SFSU, I've already been taking cinema classes. Will these units be dropped from my record? And what about the other units, in General Ed requirements, that I have already taken?

Thanks for your help!

I believe if you attend a 4-year university you have a unit cap, regardless if your most recent courses were taken at a CCC or not.

Sorry to inform you, but because you have coursework from a four year institution, the unit cap will stilly apply to you. UCLA and UCB are probably not an option for you at this point. I will tell you though that units aren’t just “dropped” from your record. Are you meaning to ask if they will transfer? In general, if a UC finds that courses you took at SFSU are equivalent to what they offer (major prep, gen ed, whatever it may be), then they will transfer and you will be given the transfer credit.
