So I remember last spring a lot of people were asking about whether or not their admissions would be pulled since their GPA dropped in the spring and the their acceptance letters says to maintain the GPA that they applied with.

I'm seeking information on if and how many people this has happened to (their admissions were actually pulled, passed all their classes, but "lower" GPA). Some people say to just pass all our your spring courses, others advice to keep over a 3.0 and others say to keep within -.20 of original GPA.

Reason: Currently planning my spring schedule and I might have to take several hard courses in 18 units.

I'm gonna be looking through old threads to find information later on but if you guys have links, stories, etc, then I'd greatly appreciate it. =)

Ways to avoid a rescinded acceptance:

Safe bet when it comes to GPA is to maintain the GPA you were accepted with. A lot of people can’t do this so the official standards are as low as 2.0 spring semester as long your cumulative GPA doesn’t dip below a 3.0 GPA. UCLA and Berkeley have been known to push these limits (usually they’ll ask you to maintain the GPA you were accepted with).

Take the courses you stated you would. Do not drop any courses. Take the C’s instead. This is huge! (Probably the number 1 reason people were rescinded last year).

Do not lie on your application or transcript because they will find it and they won’t be too happy.

Meet all deadlines after you’ve been granted admission and submitted your SIR.

Just letting you guys know that rescinding admissions is a sad thing but it does happen and it happens more often than you think. After you’ve been granted admission, stay on top of it or you might end up losing admission (this happened to a good friend who was suppose to be roommate this year - he ended up dropping one class for his IGETC Spring semester and was going to take it over the summer but instead was rescinded and when he appealed it, they rejected that too. He was initially admitted with a 3.4ish GPA and his GPA dropped to a 3.3ish after Spring semester as well).

WingedYoshi, you can do anything you set your mind to man.

But really, just as you were able to grow wings, so too you can achieve a 3.0 (at least) in your 18 units. Determination is the key, which of course should not be unusual in a developed Yoshi, or any other dinosaur. Make those beasts proud!

@ lmendoza- did you friend apply as a TAG applicant, or just as a regular applicant?
