okay so i've been reading reviews about syracuse and its been making me nervous and uncertain...Is the social life good? because i'm an international from the uk and i dont want be in a University that have little cliques where the football teams arebthe dominant voice in the school and what not. I know there are extra-curricular activites but do people actually get involved in them? and if so how are they like.

Social life is what you make of it–weather at SU, NYU, Columbia or at Stanford. At SU, there’s a niche for people of different personalities to fit into. The only way social life will be hell is if you’re anti-social and lock yourself in your room all day. Most studenst automatically find common ground with each other based on things like the languages they speak or similarities in culture and upbringings. I’m not going to deny the fact that internationals tend to stick together and people from the states as well but the University is trying to make so that everyone regardless of immediate home, background, or nationality can interact together. Students on campus are highly involved in extra-curricular activities. Many students here also have passions for many things and thus leads them to join clubs, sports and organizations. I personally am in two so far. I wasn’t trying to inundate myself in many so I just dabbled in a few and weeded out the ones that were irrelevant to my goals.

I wouldn’t say all internationals stick together. It takes a bit of looking, but there are so many different groups of students that I’m sure you can find a group. SU is too big to be like high school. There’s no “cool group.” Sure the bball players are popular, but they pretty much hang out with their own group. I’m in a whole slew of clubs, so I make friends in those, but I also made friends on my freshman hall, where most people find their first friends.
