Is it standard to share financial aid packages of one school with another while negotiating financial aid? I am trying to obtain more FA from an Ivy and the school has asked me to send them the financial aid package offered from another highly selective school. Is it ok to do so?
If you don’t they will deny your appeal. If they are considering matching the offer they want proof that it is real and not just a ploy you are using to get more aid. They will not take your word for it.
And if the other offer includes merit aid the Ivy will not match it.
Thanks for your help. I’ll give it a shot.
Is your other school a peer school to this Ivy?
You must supply apples to apples. This means they do not care if someone gave you merit money. The Ivies only give need based financial aid. They will look at another IVE, Duke, Stanford, MIT, Amherst, Williams, Swat, etc.
