**NEOMED B.S./M.D** High School Class of 2015

I just wanted to start a thread for the class of 2015 students applying to NEOMED this fall. If there is anyone who is already in this program who would like to share some tips or give us their stats, that'd be great!

My son turned in his early action application two weeks ago. He has a 2030 SAT and a weighed GPA of 4.17 (3.79 unweighted) . He has 200+ hours of medical volunteers, including hospice, rehabilitation center, hospital, 130 hours of shadowing (family doctors, radiologist, 100+ hours with emergency doctors). Attended National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, Science Fair 1st place and not so much of ECs. Please chance him in getting into Neomed. He is very nervous. Thanks.

He’s a bit on the low side for both GPA and SAT (3.8-3.9 +2100 SAT is about average there) but the hours in medical-related activites would definitely help.
He should apply to Hiram’s Biomedical Humanities program, which has reserved places at NEOMED - this way, if he’s not in at neomed, he’s got an excellent safety.

Are you from Ohio parentslovekids ?

Yes, we are in Ohio. Anyone get into Neomed with SAT 1300 previously that you know?

Hi, MYOS1634, Thanks for your suggestion. There are only 5 seats available for Hiram to Neomed, not a very convincing path.

Yes, not many, but remember it’s a safety, and as far as safeties go, much better academically than Youngstown State or Akron, while being a chance at a spot vs. nothing certain (well, Hiram and all colleges can push their students towards all kinds of med schools without guaranteed admissions, like almost all applicants do).
Don’t put all your eggs in the same basket.
What are the matches and safeties?

Here are the statistics of the latest accepted class. http://www.neomed.edu/admissions/medicine/bsmd/PROFILEOFC1CLASSOF2020.pdf

I think more kids from Ohio take the ACT. The SAT average is 1413. I’m guessing some would have a 1300 SAT if that is the average.

When will we find out the interview decisions for EA?

hi anyone here received an interview in RD.

Also please advice on the interview formats at NEOMED as well as at the respective Universities. Kindly share your interview experiences at NEOMED.

Thank you,

@tdkeerthi how was your interview experience at NEOMED. My son has an interview coming up under RD, so if you already attended please provide some feedback on your experience. Does it have several ethics related questions.

Thank you.

I recently got interviews at Kent, Akron, Youngstown, and Neomed for the BS/MD program. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for these interviews, and what questions to expect?

Thanks so much!
