Hello! I’ve been checking NYUAD and will be applying next year. My stats are SAT 1580, ACT 33, SAT 2 2400(physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), A levels 3 A*s and 2As, national level recognition/awards. What are my chances? Could anyone accepted into NYUAD please share their stats and why they think they got in?

So now we got a humble bragger here lol

@Cris919 I have my friends who went to Jacobs university this year. Based on their opinion, education is good. Events like hackathons are regularly happening in and around campus. Plus, Jacobs also assists students to go to other countries to attend such events. Having said that I myself, though interested in computer science, am opting for college in Nepal ( I have applied to Jacobs though) due to non- academic/financial circumstances. Based on your other posts, I have seen that you have extraordinary stats (perhaps the best from Nepal) and really recommend that you polish your college application.
Anyway, Jacobs provides merit-based scholarship plus financial aid. One of my friends received 15,000 euros of scholarship. With the financial aid that he would have received had he applied, I think that would cover the costs of attendance (IMO).
All the best with everything.

@givemeabreak99 well, Im really worried about the 2 percent acceptance rate. How come 7 students got accepted? Do they have quotas to encourage diversity or am I missing something?

@Cris919 Yes, every college “claim” that they encourage diversity, but they do not have limited number for a nationality. I think the main idea is to encourage diverse personalities and field of studies from same nationality( pffts we all know it’s bankrolls tbh)
You should definitely give it a go. As that won’t be the only uni you would apply to, NYU AD would make a reasonable fit to your common app list.

@Cris919 With your stats along with good essays and LORs you are likely to get a candidate weekend invite for nyuad and from their onwards your CW decides your admission decision…

yo buds, i’m a dude currently studying in the us. congratulations to whoever got in, but for those who did not get in, it’s all cool. as a lot of other peeps mentioned, lots of variables play into the admissions process, and most of you do seem to understand the complexity of the process.

as i understand it here are a few things to keep in mind-

  1. every college is looking to recruit "diverse" student body but the definition of diversity changes based on the institution, the change in staff within the admissions office, and the need for more "diversity" within a particular year, among other things
  2. OF is one of the few programs in nepal that is there to actually help kids who would have otherwise not been able to apply to colleges in the us. sure everything has its drawbacks, but don't victimize the kids who get into colleges through OF. if you qualify to apply to OF, do it. if you want to criticize it, criticize it productively. else, chill and focus on yourself. for the record, i am not a OF kid, did the whole application process by myself.
  3. gap year is not bad but please be productive. like y'all should genuinely be doing things you want to do. like do that olympiad stuff if you want, else write poetry if that's what keeps you alive.
  4. talk to admissions officers and be genuinely interested in the institution. don't butter people, they have dealt with buttering before and they can smell it. always assume that people are smart (obviously).
  5. talk to alums and hear what they have to say about the institutions. not everyone fits well in amrika. and different institution in different locations have different vibe. know what you are getting into. don't be miserable in the future.

all of the opinions presented here are my own and are by no means objective. hmu if you have anything to talk about. namaste.

anyone got in Dartmouth? hmu if you did, no spams!!!

How worth is Liberal Arts Degree if I want to be the Physicist?

Hi, I just finished SEE from an average school. I was very keen to study A-levels at Budhanilkantha school applied and hence got rejected. I now have a list of few schools that I want to apply for but I have no effing idea where should I apply for. I have visited a handful of college’s website and looked upon alumni placements. I am still quite not sure about which school is actually good for A-levels Science please drop your comments below regarding schools. Also, how are Saipal and Kasthamandap?

@caroushel I don’t know about Saipal, but Kasthamandap is a good school. Have you applied to RBS? RBS is a pretty good school for studying A Levels Science.

@1apple1 I missed the deadline for RBS.

Go for RBS then. RBS is the best, the greatest. I did mine at SXC and guess what? It’s not good. I have a lot of my friends at RBS and they’re going places. At SXC, Plus 2 teachers are replacing the other ones. The main problem is not that; the major problem is the counselor there. Not good enough. And the friends’ circle ain’t good enough too. If not RBS, then BNKS. If not BNKS, then …SXC. If not SXC, then you are screwed.

I need a list of programs held for computer science majors
