is williams need blind for int candidates?
thanx guys

abhay,

Yes, Williams is need-blind, for internationals, too. Furthermore, from my experience and that which I have heard of others, Williams is very generous.

First of all, I really am not qualified to rate your chances but I'll state the obvious. Your scores are stellar. Your rank is within the top 10% which I think is okay, though it probably matters how competitive your school is. I can't tell much from your extra-curriculars, but as long as you have spent time doing things passionately that should be okay. You don't really have anything that sticks out as bad.

The thing with a top school like Williams is not everyone qualified gets in. I think you have to have something they want and maybe a little luck. They are trying to build a diverse and interesting class and if you fit the profile of a student they want you'll probably be in. It's hard to rate chances for anyone, and even harder for me at least to rate an international's chances.

My advice would be to put a lot of effort into your essay. That's one place that you can still change at this stage of the game. You definetly have a shot. I just don't want to rate if that is an average shot or great shot. Best of luck to you abhay. I hope you are accepted to Williams or another school you are excited about!

-Leonesa

Williams is absolutely generous. My package is similar/better than My friends' aid packages ( from yale, Harvard, princeton (similar EFC)). As leonesa said, essays are very important. Furthermore, good recommendations (peer recommendation included) can tip the scale.
