I'm also from SXC 'n got 70.3 %(3.5GPA) and applyin fo 07 fall. Economics is great if ur concerned abt gettin Job later. I know Punj dat job is ur prob. dats why ur choosing engineering over pure physics (u told me, u know). Also consider Economics+Maths if ur interested, with this career u’ll get tons of excellent job offers if u do well later like jobs in Worldbank, UNs, Government, etc…..
BTW Isc grades are not inflated rather i'd say they are iffy and arbitrary - u won't know what u'll get at the end no matter how well u did ur exams, im not sayin this bcoz i only got 70.3. Now I regret why I didn’t choose A-Levels, blindly studied ISc just becoz of St. Xaviers…sigh.

hahahah, sorry bro.. bad vocabulary. deflated was what I should have been using?(~simpering~)
I went through ISc too.... sigh...

i think sxc is the worst college from where to go abroad. For all the young members please study anywhere else. Reasons:
1.The I.Sc. Marking system is crappy. The percentage 75% depends on luck
2.The Guidance Counselor , I don't think he's of much help.
3.The Teachers , the recos
4.The college is damn crappy
5.Porkey , I am also from SXC , do u know me?

whats ur name ??

^^i dont think the last point is one of the reason

are u baam bam ?
the cliche "recos" gave me a hint

I am an Unlucky Guy, i got only 68.75%, can anybody help me, suggest any useful suggestions, though my Extra Activities is quite god, and talents too.

Have anybody heard University of Bridgeport, culd anybody tell me more about that college ??? How's that for safety ???

Its never too bad.. u can always cover your intermediate scores with your standardized test scores and ....
as for U Bridgeport, if you are talking abt the one in connecticut....... an acquaintance of mine went there and is transferring because he didn't like it(reason: lack of diversity). But different people have different choices and he was a graduate student. Hope that helps.

nice to see the nepali thread going strong!! :D

hey everyone how's ur preparation for college going on? tests are approachin really near and i'm really worried now. there's not even a month for my sat and i've not yet completed my vocab list. cr and writin are takin up to my nerves. any tips for sat preparation??
ani, has anybody finalised their college list?? it seems i will never be able to shortlist my college list to final 15...... which is better, taking all 3 subject tests at a time or taking 2 first and then the third one later??

i took 3 together and it was fine. it also saves you money! i doubt you would get any dramatic increase in score simply by takin it in a different sitting.

nerves are good! :D .. just take one timed SAT practice test every day to prepare yourself and it'll give you a lot of confidence. this is more imp than the vocab list if you have a decent vocab.

Let me tell something about safety colleges. Your complacency can be the reason for your downfall guys. The mistake I did got me rejected everywhere. Do not apply for full aid when you are applying to the safeties. Otherwise they will no longer be safeties. What you have to do is apply for fin. aid but show the commitment to pay around $10000. This is the only way you can get in to the safeties. I had been rejected just because of my financial reasons. But my college Elmira college (which was a safety) gave good aid ($29000) after I told that I can pay around $10000.
This piece of information was to make you aware about the college and financial aid and in a way encouraging to apply to Elmira. :D:D

So you in Elmira now? tht's somewhere in upstate NY right? i'm too lazy to search..

Yes, upstate. A small but a lovely college.

so where's everyone been these days? or is it that they r busy preparin for their tests and application processes. lets keep on sharin guuys. lets make this forum active. wake up!!

Houston.... responding to the wake up call.

It's good to see this forum waking up finally. I'm having serious problems deciding what to do. Well college selection is hard itself and SATs combined with application essays is driving me nuts these days. Safeties...... ummm... such a relative concept....

hey all! how's it going?

preps goin on for Oct.14

still going on, hanging on for life... help, survival instinct... kick into high gear...
There is no second chance for SAT this time... no more last minute registrations... test centres starting to get full before deadlines...
