nepali road to the ivy leagues

Hello everyone,

I have started this post for those brave boys and girls who wish to help each other to beat the odds and get into ivy leagues; the gurkha way.
All right, lets cool down. Going to Ivies , well at least trying, can up-shoot a great professional career. Why? Because even undergrad education is like a PHD! And to be rogue, and audacious and honest, I have always had this sort of ambitions that can be realised most fully after ivy leagues. So, my list of wishes is this

MIT
2.Harvard

CALTECH
4.PRINCETON

YALE

So, I would like to ask other friends to list and discuss- about majors, minors, of choice;scholarship; odds of getting.

In further posts i will submit my statistics, extracurriculars, essay topics, ( well just the outlines), and hope others do the same.

thank you.

I will be applying to MIT YALE and Princeton (I am depending on my supplement. It’s a online learning systems that I built when I was in my early A2 level).

I have somewhat horrible SAT 1920 ( I am giving on Jan and thinking about bringing it to 2100+). A-Levels. - Mostly A and A* (except for GP).

SAT II : 800/780/740 MCP

Note: I have excellent ECs and the only thing that will pull me done is my SAT. :(

And what about you guys??

adaiyan,
I think ur supplement is great. But can YOU explain a little about ur online learning systems? is it the OLE (OPEN LEARNING INITIATIVE?)

MINE:
SAT II; 800/790/730
SAT I ; YET NOT TAKEN , TAKING IN JAN
TOEFL; 112/120
ESSAY; IT is about how I corrected my self and learned to think in nepali language. It is extremely risky, but I think the use of good english makes it fine. and it is true, not something i made up to court the admission officers.

have u taken toefl? is it really needed? i THought IT was imp so I took it.

My supplement is about helping kids learn because they just couldn,t pass slc. ( it is associated with this organization made by social work studying students.

Reccomendations; one teacher has written hypocritically, because he knows me since chilhood, as “first boy” in all grades… I am not from Kathmandu. Another teacher will write fine i think.

extracurriculars; no any national level sort of olympiads or quizes. In fact I am depending upon some certificates i am getting in january, and will promptly upload them.

But, the fact of the matter is i have extremely slim chances of getting accepted at ivies because of something horrendous in my application. Perhaps I can explain it later.

Perhaps starting this thread is also a sign that I am not really getting into ivies, and so an expression of failure.
allright, sorry for this last psychological garbage.

Yeah … about my supplement … it’s an online learning system … It’s actually for medical entrance preparation with huge database of questions and tests (also forum) Used PHP and JS to make it and webaccapella for designing the site.

There are over 5000 users. (I heard of … I have given the access of administration console to other guy of that institution and I haven’t followed up the stats since.)

I have done TOEFL (scores yet to come)

And sapragandaki, you don’t need to upload the certificate. Ani where are u frm??

I am from ST. Xavier’s.

MIT and Caltech are not Ivy Leauges

Haha! MIT/Caltech
(They are better than Ivies for students who wish to pursue Engineering and MIT’s Economics is way good!)

And anyone applying for Upenn’s “Interdisciplinary Programs”??

I am applying for “M&T: The Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology”

mumford07,
Yes, sorry about that glitch.
But I stick to the above posts. It is not the administrative discrepancies of campuses( their unions or standings) on the other side of the planet Earth that matter.

The audacious, rugged ,brutal truth is one has to work for oneself for any sort of achievements; and those campuses just might help. The rest is just nonsense, and if I sow nonsense, I harvest even nonsense “nonsense”. And in order to achieve acclaimed success in USA, one has to leave Nepal with rigid plans and dreams.
That’s WHY I started this thread.

@adayin i got deferred from VIPER!!

I am having a big trouble.

I was assigned MIT interviewer, Rabi Karmacharya. After many days of delaying, He replied me saying that he is out of the country and unablew to interview. So, I was assigned a new interviewer, Ramesh Nath Vaidya. I asked for interview in Dec 9( deadline was Dec 10). I t appears he had replied me in Dec 9 itself, but because of some technological mishap, I didn ot recieve his email. So for more than 10 days, I wrote him emails repeatedly. I tried to contact his office, but as he is a senior researcher at ICIMOD, he rarely showed at his office.
Finally, he repllied and forwarded me his DEC 9 email. But meanwhile, the interviewer’s name at mymit dissappeared and changed to " interview waived". Before that happened , there was a notice that if something like this happens, call us, we will reassign you your EC. But, due to holiday season, the interview office is closed. I am going to contact them today, and hopefully, the office wont be closed.

WHAT WILL POOR DR RAMESH VAIDYA THINK ABOUT ME, WHEN i ASK HIM TO INTERVIEW ME JUST ONE DAY BEFORE THE DEADLINE?

@saptagandaki: the last date to take the sat for Caltech is the Dec date as it is stated here : http://admissions.caltech.edu/applying/deadlines</a> … I also thought of applying to Caltech, but as I have not taken the SAT 2’s I didn’t.

Also in for UPenn M&T - does any one know what the acceptance rate is?
