nepali thread.

does this mean they offer need based aid(lehigh)?

International students applying for need-based financial aid MUST submit
the International Student Financial Aid Application AND the
International Student Certification of Finances

i guess this is the confirmation....

The average financial aid award is approximately $26,683.00. The
financial aid awards ranged from $1,987.00 to $36,520.00

whoa!!..okie...the total comprehensive cost for lehigh 2006-2007 is 45,320...the max aid as i said ranges upto $36,520...that's still a deficit of almost $9000...okie i m screwed....

help me out people....

hehe... u seem to be talking to yourself collegewoes :)

anyway, don't you think they increase the aid amount each year with the increasing tuition? Otherwise there'd be lesser applicants who can afford the university each passing year! just a thought.. i dunno.

here's sth i found.. it's for all students though... not just internationals. data from 2004-2005. excuse the messy table

Format: [First-year students, Total undergraduates]

Need-based aid
Students who applied for financial aid [65%, 55%]
Those determined to have financial need [51%, 48%]
Students whose need was fully met (excluding PLUS or other private loans) [37%, 52%]
Avg. financial aid package(% awarded aid) [$24,148 (51%), $24,251 (48%)]

i don't know abt the college increasing their financial aid..i mean they might decrease thier aid too right...i guess...36500 is already the maximum...i mean it's real high for aid already don't u think...haven't heard of many colleges that offer aid greater than that say 40 grands...but thanks again for the hope...i hope they do increase their aid...by atleast $4000 and provide max aid of 41000...god that's like being too hopeful...guess i got no option...than talking to myself...lol....

hey...nice article back there....aaron56...

well aid packages do differ every year according to the quality of applicants i think. and if they can't increase their aid, they are going to lose a lot of their brightest applicants to colleges that offer more. The applicant who received 36500 in 2004-2005 might receive like 40,000 or sth now. if an applicant can only pay so much, the college has only two options: increase the aid or lose the bright applicant.

lehigh has an endowment fund of some 7 hundred sth million dollars.. they can afford to fund really bright intls significantly. not like they have hundreds of undergrads or sth!

well tht's my way of looking at it. but i'm no college admin

i dont know why u guys are so stuck with lehigh.. there are other great liberal arts colleges....i'm sorry if i missed something

thanx collegewoes.
guys how can i do a crash course for SAT in a week. this week ta it's even hard to get in the comp. forget books but next week i've gotta do sth or I'll get 200 in SAT.
ani sumpliz suggest some safety colleges, okie the ones that take students with huge ECAs, decent grades and don' care 'bout SATs.

practice tests, practice tests and more practice tests...

and review all your answers (right or wrong) after each test and learn the right way to do things..... though of course, the 'right way' differs, just make sure your works

ya...aaron56..i misinterpreted....for 2006-2007 the estimate cost is $45000...and gor 2004-2005 aid given was 36000..so u r right...they might just raise their aid...ahtsisab..lehigh is not a liberal arts collge...it's i think the only collge that has good program on enginnering + diverse fields in mathematics..take no offense if i sounded rude...if u got other suggestion abt colleges with similar programs and better aid...hit me....

as aaron56 said..practice is the key..i am not a SAT specialist myself...tend to screw up on the verbal part...lolz...but ya practice tests is the key...and how do u score 200 in SAT?..lol..okie lame joke...anywayz...do good sweta....

hey sweta...what's ur major gonna be in college...so that way i can try suggest some safety colleges....

for all we know, a college like lehigh might be your safety!! and yea.. you looking for an lac?

come again aaron56...whom u referring to..didn't get u?..sorrie..

collegewoes u from stxc? the last line of your first message is the same as my last line in the yearbook biog.
ani guys, hope u can help me out in this... khas ma my dream college was (is) REED, but the ppl out there need gud SAT. ani I aein't gonna get gud SAT this time. so I won't get to apply for ED1 to REED. but I have an opt that's {MHC}MT. HOlyoke(23rd rank- usnews) and SAT is not required THERE. I know, I can get into it b'coz ppl like me from my school have been selected for that place.
but the main dilemma is, even if I get selected for MHC, I'm pretty much sceptic 'bout only girls colleges(!!!) and I'd always regret 'bout REED. What are the chances that they take students with low SATs or like sum1 suggested, may be I cud write to them explaining my situation ( tei rona-dhona dialogues- I hate that) Will it work?
ani what does ur knowledge say 'bout APPLYING FOR ED1 TO 2 DIFFERENT COLLEGES? have ppl been caught or blacklisted for that?
nabhaye ta to be safe- MHC
for my dream- REED. duitai hanidinthe!
aru ta baalai bhayenani, euta na euta ma ta paaucha hola ni!

meant tht for sweta...
to sweta: we dont' know ur stats n stuff so how can we tell u wut's your saftey and wut's ur reach or wutever.

collegewoes...feel free to tell ppl that they are right or wrong... that's what we are here for...btw.. thats was not rude at all...not atleast by my standards.... u have to read some other forums here to know how rude ppl can get

abt lehigh university and other LACs.... all i meant was that other LACs offer far better choices than Lehigh does...top LACs like swarthmore definitely has engi and maths programs that are far better than lehigh's... but again it depends upon what major u wanna do.... if an engi major..u shud apply to better unis than lehigh... maybe the likes of ivys and duke, stanford....if liberal arts....u have ample options

m always confused 'bout my major... sometimes, it's genetics, biochemical engg and at other times it's intl relations, economics. that's the region why i wanna go to a liberal arts college.
u needn't select a engg one for me, one with gud bio. related programs 'd do.
