So, this may sound silly, but I thought it would be fun.
Some people consider me a nerd. But I know nothing about Star Wars or Star Trek, for example.

Let's compile a list of 'nerd necessities'. haha

For example:

pacman
xkcd comics
Ninja Turtles
Harry Potter
Batman
Calculus Jokes
Programming Jokes
(someone mentioned something recently about Linkys, idk)

Does this make sense??
I don't know I thought it would be fun, since different groups of nerds share different/ similar interests.

Also by no means is nerd a derogatory term. : )

Nerds are considerably cooler nowadays simply because they aren’t so different. it is perfectly normal these days for your average non-nerd kid to be spending hours on the computer/watching tv, so nerds are fairly normal and just happen to have higher grades.

Also, nerds have realized that their good grades really aren’t enough to go to a good college…so they get involved with school clubs, sports, etc.

Of course, the ubernerd still exists. And he is as much of a social pariah as ever.

Being a nerd is like a secret joke that no one gets until they’re 20. All the cool kids who cheat on tests and don’t learn anything realize that “cool” isn’t so cool when the nerds start ownin it up in the real world lol

These are some things I do:
-When I’m reading for pleasure, I record all of the words I don’t know(I never really look them up though haha, maybe I should)
I would have started a book, history, or medical club if it weren’t for the fact that my friends wouldn’t have joined:/
I memorize random facts because I find them intriguing
I love intelligent conversations
I love debating for fun(I’m not as competitive though so I couldn’t join a team. However, I’m considering it now.)
I enjoy educational programs
I would rather read a book than go to the movies with my friends. I don’t enjoy going to the movies because I find most movies to be pointless. However, I do enjoy spending time with my friends and some movies, just not as much as some other activities.
I love symbolism and books that are thought-provoking
I enjoy reading exceptional essays
I have a large map of the world that covers my wall above my computer that I enjoy looking at
Everytime my mom turns on rap, I change the station to classical or listen to classical/ my Phantom of the Opera soundtrack on my ipod

That’s all I can think of at the moment, but there are probably a few other activites. I love every single one of those things that I mentioned though:)

^Woot! Musicals ftw. I’m listening to Wicked!

Listening to musicals/classical in general

Being angry at your parents for taking down your periodic table on your wall, then making them put it back up

Wanting/Having to linux on your computer

Debating on issues in general

Watching the news, and you know at least 3-5 political correspondents on certain channels (CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc)

You’re one of the only people who doesn’t groan when your teacher tells you that you have to do a science fair project

Webcomics! XKCD :D

You have an app to keep track of your homework and GPA on your iTouch

Same thing with me. I don’t get what’s the fuss over Lord of the Rings.

Nerdy things:
Being familiar with different authors of textbooks (typical nerd conversation: “I use Leithold for Calculus.” “Ah, Leithold, although I am more of a Stewart person.”)
Online forums, especially serious ones involving politics/philosophy
Science magazines
Techno music
Pokemon
Owning a ridiculous amount of test prep books

^^O right! I watch the news too:) Here are some more haha:
-I watch the news and have CNN as my homepage
-My screen saver is a picture of the earth from space
-The first thing I do when I get home is check my grades
-Every semester when the final grades come out and I am with my friends, I make sure to bring my phone with me so I know my grades the second they are posted
