I'm a nerd and I would like a college with a nerdy atmosphere, unfortunately college search engines do not often include that as a selection option. I like something in the field of engineering as a major. My gpa is 3.7 taking the hardest classes my school offered, which was 2 college in high school classes with university of pittsburgh and 6 AP over junior and senior. I got CR770 M770 and W750 on SAT, didn't take subject tests yet, no AP tests. I was involved in debate, volunteered at my local hospital, participated in team math test contests and did science olympiad, all relatively casually. What's a good fit? I want to amp up my effort when I get to college.

Swarthmore, Olin, Harvey Mudd, MIT and Cooper Union are some reach schools with both engineering programs & nerdy reputations.

(I’m not too familiar with engineering, though, so unfortunately I can’t offer you match and safety suggestions.)

Case Western has the nerdy factor you are looking for and a very strong engineering program. You probably have the stats to make it a match school. Good luck

This should definitley help:

GO NERDS!!!

Reed is wonderfully nerdy, with something of a cool edge.

For example, the “Defenders of the Universe” recently built this:

[Reed Magazine: ELIOT CIRCULAR (3 of 3)](Reed Magazine: ELIOT CIRCULAR (3 of 3))

Also, while you can’t major in engineering, Reed offers 3+2 programs with Caltech, Rensselaer, and Columbia.

At least you’re honest. You’ve got some good stats though. As far as reaches, just look for schools with party and Greek reputations in the Top 30 and cross them out.

Carleton, Chicago, and Reed (mentioned above) are all fine nerd schools, but they do not have engineering programs.
