My friends and I are considered a bit "nerdy" at our school because we excel at academics and we play alot of videogames. We enjoy having Halo 3 (we moved on to Gears of War 2) Lan Parties every other week or whenever time is available.
So my question is directed to current students: Do many, or any, UChicago students have lan parties? What are the lan parties like?

I am a foreigner when it comes to video games and lan parties and stuff like that, but I know a decent number of students who are very into videogames, so I imagine they are not hard to find.

The most prevalent kind of "nerdy" I find at Chicago is an academic/life enthusiasm kind of nerdy, which to some is not even within the bounds of what it means to be a nerd.

I'm pretty sure you can find this kinds of parties at whatever school you end up going to. I know a ton of people who aren't strict nerds and yet have these types of parties. Considering UChicago's reputation for D&D and other various nerd activites, they might be a bit more prevalent than at other schools. My point is, you'll be fine wherever you go, if this is a serious concern for you.

haha, it's not a serious concern. I know all i need to know about UChicago (academics-wise) so i was just curious what social activities i could look forward to.

If I'm fortunate enough to be able to attend UChicago, I'd love to have someone help me kill some Locusts.

^ High-five :D

LAN parties? I play video games with my friend(s) almost every Friday night. Unfortunately, they're aren't that many people interested; this school is not as nerdy as you might think.
