nerdy schools?

what are the schools with the most nerdy or geeky student body?

Tech schools tend to be nerdier. UChicago is also hella nerdy.

I second UChicago. My school valedictorian went there. Nerdfest, 100%. Great school though

DD2 looked for nerdy schools. Besides the obvious (MIT), Carleton and Reed. She also liked Lewis & Clark and Knox.

really? didn’t know uchicago was nerdy?

WPI is a nerdy school

This is an absurd question because the term “nerdy” can mean different things to different people.

I agree with noimagination, but if you wanted to know which are generally stereotyped as nerdy: U Chicago, Swarthmore, maybe Brandeis

At least no one’s said HYP yet. People seem to assume smart=nerdy.
Tech schools and schools with a heavy core curriculum tend to be nerdier.

“Great school though.”

First of all, that should have read, “great school, though.” Second of all, WHO SAID THAT A SCHOOL BEING NERDY WAS A BAD THING??? Nerds are fun…

Caltech x.x

Johns Hopkins University
Carnegie Mellon University
University of Chicago

Contrary to popular opinion, MIT is not very nerdy. MIT is notorious for having great parties.

MIT seems pretty darned nerdy, fun, and creative to me. :D

[List of MIT Hacks](IHTFP Hack Gallery: Chronology)

MIT is full of nerds. They have more fun than nerds at comparable schools (CMU, Caltech, etc.) but are still hella nerdy compared to most colleges out there.

^Well obviously. “Most colleges out there” have academic standards significantly lower than MIT’s. I think the OP is mostly looking for a nerdiness comparison between top schools, not between all schools, because one would be hard-pressed to come up with an argument that the students at U of Arizona are nerdier than the students at MIT.

Seems like a whole lot of nerds apply to MIT, and MIT tries to accept the least nerdy of them.

[MIT Admissions: Admissions Statistics](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/admissions_statistics/index.shtml)

Maybe not least nerdy, but least typical…27% admit rate for CR scores of 750 and above.

My S got into Carnegie Mellon. We did an accepted student visit and it was filled w/ students my S did not want to hang around. Why? Because they were like him.

He ended up at a very good school trying to be someone he is not.

His history isn’t something to go in to here. Just be true to yourself, whatever that self is.

RPI…I visited and they seemed to have no social lives whatsoever.

@Tzar09 Nothing is wrong with nerds actually I’m looking for schools to apply to and since I’m a nerd why not find schools filled with people like me?

And yea I saw RPI everyone there played WoW so I think I might try there :)
