ahhh! so i applied to ursinus college through the Priority Select App October 1st, and i am still waiting for a decision. eek. this is truly torture. I talked/emailed admissions twice- and they said they would mail out my decision by "early november". I talked to one of the admission officers today via online IM conversation on their website due to another frustrating day with the mailman and he said it would be sent out "soon". "Soon" does not help me much at all. my rage for the mailman and my anxiety have increased with each passing day.

i am really nervous considering i did not submit my sat scores and i am wondering how they viewed everything in my application.

my stats were/are:

white male from NJ
attends selective, public high school- works differently than other high schools- we have majors such as tv. production to musical theatre to audio tech to webpage during junior and senior year. all classes are viewed as honors- no rankings. each class has 120 kids- 60 boys and 60 girls, picked from about 1,600 applicants in the county. everyone in my class is extremely intelligent.

gpa is a 4.08 out of a possible 4.5- every class is an honors class which are has no weight, 1 AP. ew. not good at math at all- highest level i am at is algebra 2 (honors) ew. did not send my sat scores because they sucked, badly. lol. i think everything else is strong to support my case for admission. hopefully!

Even though Ursinus did not ask for a recommendation, i sent my recommendation from my AP Lit professor. It was too good of a recommendation to not put in.

ursinus does have an sat optional program but one must meet the requirements they have set out. Here is Ursinus' policy:

Standardized Test Waiver Policy
Our commitment to exceptional high school achievers: reporting of your SAT score to the Ursinus Admissions Office is optional if: a) your high school reports class rank and you are in the top ten percent; or b) your high school does not report class rank and you have a 3.5 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale.

At Ursinus, as well as at all other selective colleges, the best predictor of college success is your high school achievement—in particular, the strength of the courses you have taken and your grades in those difficult courses. If you feel your SAT does not fairly represent your potential, and you satisfy one of the requirements outlined above, then it is your option to report your SAT to the Ursinus College Admissions Office.

Have you heard anything yet? My son's app was complete as of October 29th, although that did not include his SAT's and he wanted them included. They were process on November 2, 2007 so should be on their way. He will be notified by 11/29 they say. I'm not having a great feeling. Do you think coming from Maine will be helpful for him? I have a feeling they don't get too many applicants from Maine.

unfortunately, i haven't heard anything back from ursinus. actually, ursinusadmission is online right now and i really just want to ask them : HOW COME I HAVENT FOUND OUT YET?! in those words because the anticipation is killing me. im really starting to have a terrible feeling about ursinus, about not finding out yet.

breath.

anyway, i am hoping for the best. i find out about knox college nov 15 so hopefully that will be good. i really would like to get into ursinus, now. i hate my mailman, the us postal service, all of them. i wish ursinus would just simply email the decision adn then follow up with the letter. fdsnjksdfnjkdsfnsdjkf.

curlygirl61- stay positive! your son has very nice stats. do not worry.

djnfsjkdfnkdsjf. as for me, well, i am really worried.

It really took 5 weeks before my son received his acceptance a few weeks ago. It was mailed almost 4 weeks exactly after his app was complete. We have not been to the school, but the more we read about it, the more it sounds really great. He was very excited to get accepted. Would be interested in what your opinions are...have you visited? Good Luck to everyone!

Also....FYI....the acceptance comes in a small envelope!!! :)

collma, congrats to your son! i had a feeling ursinus would be sneaky and send them in small envelopes! dkfndskfnsdkf. grr. hopefully, my admission decision will come soon!

i have not visited ursinus yet. if accepted, i will definately be visiting. one of the main reasons i applied was my encounter i had with ursinus at a college fair. the admission officer was the nicest out of the many admission people i talked to. she even followed up with sending ursinus literary magazines and a handwritten note about how nice it was to meet me at the college fair. if that is a reflection of how personal the school is, i am definately up for it.

i have heard great things about all of their programs, especially biology. it is one of the "colleges that changes lives". many things are very appealing about ursinus and its starting to not become a hidden treasure. hope all is well and hopefully i get a nice acceptance letter soon!!!!!!

ahh, so today, i open my mailbox, again no ursinus mail (ugh) but i did get my first acceptance letter today from knox college in galesburg, illinois- so that relieves the stress i had for ursinus. still, i hope ursinus does send me a good decision! (crosses fingers)

i really hate them though, they took way too long to send the decision and they placed it in a regular envelope so when i asked my mom and sister if i got anything from ursinus, they sadly said they did and it was a small envelope. my sister was trying to put it under a light and read it.

luckily, i got in! i even got a very nice handwritten note about my essay. it is very nice to feel wanted!

good luck to all the other applicants out there!

congrats! wow you applied oct 1st and you got your letter yesterday? isnt that like more than four weeks? haha i sent mine in on the 27th of oct so i guess i still have to wait a couple more weeks then. ahh i want my letter! congrats again!

thank you comexflyxaway! yep, i seriously harassed ursinus college about when i was getting my decision. i emailed my admissions rep twice and IMed the admission office twice. they still, after all my pleading, only gave me "your application is complete. you will hear soon." SOON?! WHAT IS SOON?! my acceptance letter was written on november 16th... which was pretty late. maybe they took awhile filing my app, im not too sure?

anyway, good luck! tell me when you find out!

haha thanks. im really nervous. i hadnt even heard of this school until they sent me the priority app and thought, what do i have to lose? so i sent it in but it seems like a really good school, especially for bio so im really hoping i get in.

comexflyxaway, do not be nervous! you will be fine. from what i have heard, ursinus college is a really strong school especially for biology but not limited to the science majors, its one of those "colleges that change lives" schools and it is about a half hour or so from philiadelphia which is pretty cool. i hope all is well!

I live about 20 mins from Ursinus, very nice campus but not one of my top choices. It's a little too close for me. I got a free application and decided to give it a shot. Definitely a great place to fall back on though.
