Can someone please tell me how the people are like in UCSB?
Are they nice? Will I feel left out during orientation if my mom or dad doesn't come along?

they are really nice..just remember that everyone else there is new too and they probably dont know anyone, so just be open and friendly. strike up conversations with people in your group and then you'll start to feel a little more comfortable

go to a party in IV

You won't feel left out if you don't bring your parents.

i was nervous before my freshman year orientation, too. i'd never gone to school in CA before then. i was impressed by it... imo, ucsb did a great job from check-in to academic advising and more! :)

I thought some parts of the orientation were unnecessary, though OO", which made the days very long and exhausting.... but overall it was fun

I didn't go to many of the orientation programs - instead opting for pizza in Isla Vista and beach with the people I met. I had a great time, I only went to the programs I needed to attend. :D

^yeah I wish I'd known that before going to the orientation, because I ended up attending all the programs the first day. But I skipped one of the programs on the second day so I didn't feel too bad :D

Hehe yeah I liked just sort of being on my own. I walked around campus a bit, went to the library, spent some time in the dorm, etc.
