I'm going to be transferring to Vassar in the fall, and I was wondering how "set" people are in their social circles. I know Vassar doesn't have TOO many transfers, but, overall, is it really difficult for a transfer to make close friends??

Also... somewhat unrelated question... do i get to choose housing, or will i just be placed somewhere??

the housing application gives you a few choices about whether you'd like to be in all-female housing / winter-spring-break housing (which is actually noyes - the only dorm open during winter and spring breaks). i know freshmen cannot live in the co-op (ferry house) in the first semester but i don't know if that applies to transfers.

other than that, you get to choose if you specifically want or not want a quiet corridor or a wellness corridor. unfortunately you don't get to say if you'd like to be in a particular dorm.

mainly the application is for room-mate matching purposes (whether you 're okay with living with a smoker or not, your study and sleeping habits, etc).

thanks!! i actually literally JUST received the housing info (as well as other forms in the mail after i read your post), so i knew what to expect :)

i was sooo excited when i got that big fat envelope with all the forms to fill out!! it sounds strange, i'm sure... but i really WAS excited! :)

also, do you know... do all transfers get roommates? (i actually would prefer a roommate to having a single, since i won't really know anyone!) ... and would my roommate necessarily be a transfer? (i'm guessing no)
