Nervous Mom has question about visiting

My son (college soph) will be taking my daughter (HS senior) to W&M for an interview, tour, and info session soon.

The tour and info session end around 4:30 pm. Their train home departs at 5:17 pm.

Should I be worried about them missing the train because the tour & info run long and they find themselves too far from the station?

Thanks. :o

Have the kids get to the campus early and do a self walk around tour using a download map from school website.
Most of info can be gleened from website, you can email a school official later if any specific question.
Info sessions are a waste of time, read the school’s webpage.
Have interview as early as possible.
They can always leave when needed.
Having a good map will help them find the quickest route from any spot on campus to train station.

I would not skip the tour. It is what sold my son on the school, very informative. I would see no problem walking the 2 or 3 blocks from the admissions building to the train station in 45 minutes. 10-15 tops is more like it, giving them a half hour window to print boarding pass etc.

Do not skip the tour or the info session. The info session is presented by a dean and a student so you get some insight into W&M and learn about what the application process is like and what we’re looking for. The tour, led by a current volunteer student, will help you learn more about the W&M experience and oftentimes is what helps a student decide whether or not W&M is right for them. A self-guided tour is not an adequate substitute.

The train station is only a 10 minute walk from our building so they’ll get there in plenty of time to make a 5:17 train.

Thanks, everyone.
