<p>umm perhaps you're an ap scholar?? or NMS commended (or even finalist)...those are awards!</p>
<p>Meh.. some schools (like mine) give awards out like candy-- I got an official award with a long, fancy name for having above a 3.5 gpa. </p>
<p>Adcoms know the, so I wouldn't worry about it .</p>

<p>...better than nothing! I don't have any other amazing awards (like "national geography bee winner", for example) to fill the space. </p>
<p>Besides, a 3.5 by my standards isn't stellar, but it's not exactly a cinch where I go to school.</p>

<p>yeah awards are not that big of a deal. you can easily make up for them with leadership as well. stanford knows the amount of awards school gives out. at my h.s., we have no awards period. No honor roll, no nothing. so dont worry about it.</p>
<p>I have no awards or leadership or basically anything, if that makes you feel any better. Some schools give out awards like CRAZY, but mine gives out NOTHING.</p>
<p>stanford is pretty good about awards, actually (or lack thereof). very few of the applicants from my high school have any awards to speak of, and we've had like 40 acceptances in the last 4 years (or some such high figure).</p>
<p>I wouldn't worry about it too much--think of one or two awards, and leave the remaining fields blank. i think meaningless awards are far more likely to turn the adcoms off than listing none at all</p>

<p>Haha, yeah I don't think we've ever had one. As far as I've heard, we've had one acceptance at Duke, Yale, Harvard, and MIT in the school's history, and those were all for one guy last year.</p>
<p>yeah i think we had a princeton, a cornell, and a berk, but thats it.</p>
<p>My school is kinda new and we have had only 1 Stanford, and the rest are Berkeleys.</p>

<p>we had like 5 stanfords last year.... and at least another 10-12 HYM (we hate princeton and they hate us)..... And we're an underfunded public school that still has football games cancelled cause of gang rivalries! and we're also 40% black, 40% white, 15% latino and 5% asian. kinda an interesting mix.</p>
<p>I am impressed and surprised. There's a lot of talk that Ivies and Stanford don't like to accept students from the same school or area and that if a bunch of kids apply to the same school, their chances decrease of getting accepted. Apparently they want more "diversity." But I guess this isn't true?</p>
<p>It's true most of the time but for "feeder" schools, they always take a couple each year. This kinda sucks because see, my school is a MIT feeder, each year 3 or 4 get in. The same people however, don't get into Harvard or Stanford. We have none going to those schools for many years. So in essence, the process is unfair in terms what high school one is from.</p>

<p>My school...in the past 4 years...has had 1 girl go to MIT, one boy get INTO Princeton but reject it for Berkeley, 1 girl for the Naval Academy, 1 girl to Northwestern. Apart from that, Berkeley Los Angeles San Diego Davis Davis Davis Davis Davis.</p>
<p>Maybe we're a UC Davis feeder school? Haha.</p>

Feeder school: If X-high school is a Stanford feeder school, then every year SOMEONE from that school gets into Stanford. Even if it means that an applicant from X-high school is less qualified than a person from another school, they will take the person from X-high school just because they are very familiar with X-high school</p>
