Nervous student awaits decision

I am about ready to jump out of my skin in anticipation. So heres the deal. I applied to the University of Kansas because my mom saw they extended their admission deadline from May to August 5th. I applied about two weeks ago and they got my transcripts a week ago. You need a 2.5 minimum for consideration, I have a 2.87 cumulative GPA. Here is why I am apprehensive:

My first semester at Community College was fine, my next year I withdrew from all my classes two semester in a row (had some personal stuff). Since Summer of 09 I have had good grades. Since fall 2009 I have had nothing less then a 3.0 (Semester grades). I am worried they will hold my earlier problems against me in admissions, even though I picked myself up by my boot straps.

I didn't get in out of high school, and that was my own fault. I worked hard and improved my grades. I absolutely love this school and want to attend!
I am applying to KU from out of state (live in Illinois right now)

KU has a 91% acceptance rate. My mom called housing and they haven't set out any housing assignments yet. My mom thinks KU is really hurting for people, and that I will get in, everyone in my family thinks so as well.

Should I be worried? Thoughts?

Nope. GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks! The anticipation is killing me! I am attending classes this summer at my CC, so I am using homework to try and keep myself distracted, its working, but I finished it all!

Appreciate any and all opinions! :)

Matt, congratulations for working so hard and caring to keep improving. That’s great for you in so many ways, but right now, it’s particularly great for your chances. Colleges love that and they love the spirit you feel. Good luck!

I think you’ll get in. Best of luck!

Another question.

Since they did extend their admissions, is it more likely that ill be nearer to the top in terms of GPA for applicants? I mean I don’t think there are a lot of people with 3.2, 3.4, 3.6 applying to schools now.

bumping the thread

Not to KU though.
