<p>Has anyone used this tool on BC’s financial aid website? If so, how did the results compare to your actual FA award?</p>

<p>Dear ambreylouise : By all means use the on-line Boston College calculations, but please remember that BC does not follow the standard FAFSA methodology. Family assets including first/multiple houses, investment assets, and similar elements will impact your financial aid calculations beyond the standard FAFSA calculations. </p>

<p>Our rule of thumb over the last several years here in college confidential is the following : Families with total income of $150,000, cash assets of $100,000, and their own home are typically the beginning point of financial aid awards. Effectively, if your family assets exceed these numbers, you will typically be outside of the BC Financial Aid award system.</p>

<p>I know, but I’m going based on the calculator that is specific to BC, not the FAFSA…</p>
