netbooks

what are those? are they useful to have in college? and what are their normal price ranges. In short, are they good technology to consider while picking out a laptop for college?

thanks

Netbook is pretty much a notebook but a size of net. (around 9 inch screen) Price ranges from maybe 250 or lower if you are good at looking to about 500 or 600 max. I don't think they're good... They're portable.. yes. they are. They have lower specs than notebooks, but it depends on your needs. If you're needs are surfing the web and word processing and don't mind a small screen. then netbook might be for you.

GG

Personally I bought a netbook fully knowing that it was underpowered. I got one that was easy to type on and had a 10" screen.

Knowing that its underpowered I plan to build a desktop too. A netbook is really all you need to take notes. Just beware of some of the keyboard on some of them.

Personally, the negatives far outweigh the positives, in my opinion. The screen and keyboard are too small to be productive in a college setting. I would gladly lug around an extra couple of pounds in order to have a truly useful laptop.

ahhh..thanks a lot.

i think my dad got a netbook, but i didn't recognize it until i read these replies. yeah, it is a little impractical to use.

thanks for the info.

As long as you get yourself an external monitor and keyboard/mouse for use while writing papers/browsing the web at your desk it should be fine. This does inflate the cost however...

my friends have netbooks and are pretty handy

the mouse sucks though, unless u get a slightly bigger/better one like the new Sony one

he has the Acer one and let me tell u that the trackpad or mouse sucks

big time

h mm have fun with it then.

well, my dad got a sony vaio. the mouse seems okay..its just the shift button. the screen's ok,except my eyes are bad and i haven't updated my prescription, so it kinda hurts to look into the screen..but that's just an eye problem.

my dad wants to get me a netbook... but i kinda want a thinkpad, or something like that. to extend my original question, does anyone have any opionions on a thinkpad?
