So I have a few questions. I sent my acceptance to Cornell in about a week ago. When can I expect to receive a NetID, etc.? Also, is there any rush in applying for the meal plan? Should I just wait to get my NetID, then apply online, or should I just mail my meal plan request in now?

I don't think you should worry about the meal plans. According to the meal plan brochure, the meal plans are flexible for the first two weeks . i.e) you can upgrade or downgrade your meal plans w/o any penalties. I'm sure they wouldn't make you starve :)

you can apply for a meal plan without a NetID, you'd just use your AppID and then log in with Net later if you felt the need to make changes. Just like Housing.

Well, I tried using my ApplicantID and it didn't work for me...

That happened to my friend too. Just on dining. Housing app was mostly fine. Weird. It could just be the system or if they have already given you a net ID your App ID would be invalid.

My friend's AppID would work sporadically; People Soft would make her log in a lot and then at random times wouldn't let her log in. A few minutes later she could get back on. This was April 30th. I don't know if it's still a problem, but mine worked fine.

When we apply for dining, they ask where we plan on living for the year. What happens if we don't know yet where we will be assigned? Should we just select On-Campus Housing (not one of the houses or collegetown)?

you select on campus housing because you are living in north campus dorms next year
