NetID's

well your net id (initials followed by a number) is your e-mail address if you add @georgetown.edu to it.

Is the number a random one?

To find it, go to the Georgetown website and find the student directory or something like that. Search for your first and last name, pick yourself, and in the URL of the resulting page, it'll end with your initials plus a few letters – that's your NetID, and your e-mail address is just netid@georgetown.edu.

I bet the number is just indicative of how many people at Georgetown have had your e-mail address since they started doing e-mail. I found someone today on Facebook who didn't have any numbers on his.

i find it hard to believe that 56 people have had my initials... but maybe. lol.

georgetown definitely used to do something more like first initial_last name@georgetown.edu, which I like a lot better. "abc23" just seems kind of cheesy.

I work at UIS, the tech place. Just wait for the letter in the mail for your net id. You'll have a temporary password, which you'll change. Don't fax in anything, as that's really for faculty/staff, and people that have already had their net-ID for a while, but forgot their password, etc. It just creates more work, esp. @ this time.
