If you can develop a great connection with professors in universities during summer college or alumni events could it help you gain admission? Do professors have any push with the admissions department? I have a friend who went to summer session at CMU and impressed the comp si professors so much that they let him skip his senior and come straight to CMU. Is he an exception or do professors make a big impact on admissions.

Their rec will help if they are willing to give you one. They don’t have a say in the adcom dept but a professor rec-ing someone means clearly they are just THAT much qualified so how can adcom complain if the person who’s teaching says the kid is amazing?

But just b/c u know them doesn’t garauntee they’ll remember you enough to tell the adcoms. If you are rec-ed you are probably a REALLY special kid or stood out to that professor somehow

Bottom line: feel free to try, but don’t be too let down if you don’t get one.
