a couple of questions about the bookstore and textbooks:

is it generally more expensive or less expensive to buy/rent from the bookstore in comparison to buy/rent from online?

is it worth waiting for classes to begin before i buy books?

is there anything important to remember when buying books for college?

bookstore is WAY overpriced. You are better off buying online from half.com. I get ISBN’s from bookstore and then buy offline, save 40-70% a year on books compared to bookstore. Don’t support their money hoarding ways!

Uh, chill. It’s not the bookstore’s fault. The publisher overmarks books because the used book selling market is so big. Take a micro econ class.

1) WAY CHEAPER to buy online. USED. (New books just make no sense)
2) No. Buy the required stuff. Recommended ones can wait.
3) Make the NEU bookstore your last option

thanks for the answers!

is it normal that when i googled the isbns, i could only find like 1 of the books that i needed for cheaper? It seems like my books were mostly proprietary by Northeastern or were not any cheaper online.

did you try everywhere?
affordabook
or affordabooks, whatever it is, good search engine.
eBay,
amazon,
chegg
alibris?

try em all

well I know the chem book for me, they JUST came out with a new edition so I only found it for $150 which is only $50 cheaper

but i understand cause its only 4 months old.

If you are on Fin aid, do you still pay for books out of pocket?

What do you mean? Even people with full scholarships have to pay for their books. If you happen to have money left over from your scholarship after you pay tuition, then I guess it’s not out of pocket… But at northeastern that very rarely happens.
