NEU is probably a high reach for me; chance please?

Hey guys. I messed up pretty badly my freshman year, but oh well. By the way, I'm only a junior. I would be applying to the civil engineering program. Obviously I can't get in, so would ya'll recommend any other schools to me as well? So far I have UMass, WPI, Rutgers, Drexel, UT Austin, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, Virginia Tech and NYU Poly.

US History SAT II: 640
Unweighted GPA: 3.56
AP/Honors: AP US History, AP Economics, AP Human Geography, AP Spanish, AP Computer Science. I did fine on the tests.
Extra Curriculars: President of Spanish Club (organized two immersion trips), Model UN, National Honor Society, founder of cycling club, member of several other clubs

I would love to go to NEU but I don't think I could get in due to my low GPA and test scores. I'm guessing there's about a 10% or so chance I can get in. Any tips in improving my resume? I am definitely taking SAT again.

Your SATs and GPA are actually pretty good! Well… in my opinion. I definitely think you have a shot! I wouldn’t say it’s a high reach. It’s closer to a match for you.

If anything, it’s a low reach at the moment.

Also, around 300 hours of community service in impoverished third world communities.

Your scores are not as perilously low as you seem to think they are, and you have other factors running in your favor - volunteering, working a lot throughout school and still keeping up pretty good grades, first generation, AP classes, and some good ECs. It’s impossible to quantify your chances exactly, but I would definitely say higher than 10%.

bump - any one else?

this is def. a match…imo you’ve most likely got this. damn good sports and above avg service stuff. ur gpa and sat are fine, so dont worry bout that.
