I was just wondering, does anyone know the number of people who applied into the pharamcy program and got in? Also, how hard is it to get financial aid based on merit?

I only have a 3.58 GPA (unweighted) but a 3.68 (weighted). My SAT score is kind of sucky (660 R 600 M 600 W) but I am retaking it and hoping to get into the 2000 range. My extracurriculars are Environmental Action Club, Drama Club, Martial Arts, Creative Expressions Club, Japanese Culture Club. And I have two college classes (beginning Chinese and Intermediate French) and an internship with Men's Health Awareness Network. I don't know my class rank but I would guess around 15-20 range out of the about 90-110 people in my class.

As a last question, does it look like I have a remote chance of even getting into NEU's pharmacy program or even NEU?

your stats are good...i don't think you will be rejected BUT i forewarn you that my friend who was ranked 8th out of 130 was waitlisted from northeastern. the school is gradually raising the level because so many people apply there as their "safety school" but it's not much of a safety anymore. i think the admission rate this year was 39%

the incoming freshman class for pharmacy has approximately 110-150 students. the competition is hard but it's good that you know you want to go into pharmacy now instead of 2-3 years later on. Northeastern actually closed off transfer applications because they simply do not have enough room. so definitely apply into Pharmacy as a freshman because that's where you would have the greatest chance of getting in. other than that, i don't know any statistics for you.

my only other suggestion that would perhaps help you is to try working at a CVS or Walgreens, in their pharmacies, and see if pharmacy is something you know you want to do. i bet Northeastern would look at that as experience and someone who is committed to studying pharmacy.

as for the merit fin. aid.....i have no idea!

I got in as a pharmacy major this year under early action. My SATs were 640/640/640 (im really consistant lol) and i was in the top 20% of an instate private schoool. My hook was that i have worked as a pharmacy tech for almost 2 years now and i wrote my essay about that. I got $5,000 in merit. I have a classmate with a higher rank, higher SATs, and no experience who was given 2nd choice major......so i guess u never know
