I got accepted to NEU's college of engineering and am thinking about choosing chemical engineering there. I also got accepted to BU's college of engineering but do not know exactly which area of engineering to concentrate on (maybe nanotechnology or aerospace).

With financial aid and costs aside, which is the better school to go to?

I got accepted into NEU's honors program, but I didn't get into the honors program at BU. I know that NEU's coop programs are amazing and that the chances of finding a job after graduation will be high. However, how much better is it being in the honors program at NEU than studying at BU without acceptance into their honors program?

Also, do most students dorm at the International Village for all their years at NEU?

All students in Honors live in IV freshman year, but other freshmen usually live in the “freshman quad area” around the Stetsons and Speare Hall.

As a Northeastern student, of course I’m biased toward my own school. In a lot of ways, the schools are comparable: big research universities in Boston (though NU does have more of a concentrated campus than BU). Northeastern does have co-op, which I have become a big proponent of. I think Honors is a great addition to your time at Northeastern. I don’t know how much BU’s Honors program changes your experience at the university, but if it were Northeastern, I would say that Honors shouldn’t be a make-or-break in your decision.

You say “financial aid and costs aside,” but I really think that does need to play into your decision. This is an expensive decision! When I was applying to colleges, I only applied to places where I was almost guaranteed at least a full-tuition scholarship. If it weren’t for Northeastern’s National Merit scholarship, I most likely wouldn’t be at this school.
