Neuroscience at Amherst

I’m a student taking undergraduate Neuroscience at University College London (Well, it’s in London). I’m currently looking for transferring into Amherst.

Is there any Neuroscience students who may offer me some ideas on the teaching style and research opportunities at Amherst? On the programme website, it mentions that in the final year, neuroscience students can choose to have their own research projects. But are there any requirements that you need to fulfill (such as grades etc.)? Also, is it difficult to have research opportunities before the last year?

To be honest, I’ve never studied in the US and it’s really hard to imagine how it’s like. Anyone studied in the UK may shed some light?
