I am a potential transfer going into the Neuroscience program at CSU. I am curious what the student experience is like here since I know there are two differing tracks for the degree. Any insight would be helpful!
I just took a look and one reason you may not be hearing from anyone is that the program is new and there are about 230 students in the program and probably none are reading CC. In general, CSU is really strong in veterinary medicine and neuroscience major is under that umbrella. Lots of premeds in Colorado like CSU because of that Vet school and the medical focus, which CU Boulder does not have, because Colorado’s only Medical school is in Aurora, far from the Boulder Campus. (Aurora is to the east of Denver). You may want to visit Fort Collins, meet with neuroscience students and professors to learn more.
You still have time before the May 1st deadline and I suggest you do that, especially if you are from out of state, so you know what you are getting into. Colorado State is strong in the sciences, but many really strong science students in Colorado may choose Colorado School of Mines. However, for biology related majors, CSU is much better than MInes. Where are you transferring from?
Thank you so much for responding! I am actually transferring from Mines since I would like a stronger biology program. I am from Colorado and would like to stay in state to keep costs low; I am looking at transferring to CU or CSU for Neuroscience. I am aware that both programs are relatively new so it makes my decision more difficult. Thank you for your help!
