I'm debating between the neurobiology program at UChicago and the neuroscience program at UMass Medical at Worcester. UChicago has a bigger name but I have heard that UMass is really up and coming. Any thoughts, especially if anyone's currently in a program at either school? Thanks in advance.

I don’t know anything about either program, but I go to school in Worcester. If given the choice between living in chicago and worcester, I would chose chicago. Worcester sucks.

Chicago – not even close.

hi bluebayou,
what are you talking about…the research or the living? i mean between U Chicago and UMass med

the request from the OP was about studying neuroscience. U-Chicago is a top 10 med program, (and top-ranked in many other grad departments as well). U-Chicago is also a major, research-oriented Uni and that is its focus in life.

Unless money is an issue, IMO higher-ranked (nearly always) beats lower-ranked for grad programs. (Assumes that they offer a program of interest.)

Hyde Park vs. Worchester is a personal thing.
