Never got offered an interview

On the website it says interviews are conducted in January and February… I never got offered an interview, and according to the website there’s an interview committee in my area. Is this really bad? I don’t know anyone else who applied to Penn, so I have no one to ask.

I did get the green card confirming that my application is complete.

I tried to call the help number on this page: http://www.admissionsug.upenn.edu/applying/interviews.php
but no one picked up.

Penn is my first choice, and I got interviews for Yale and Brown… why not Penn? I’m really upset. Tell me some people get in without interviews?

I just had my interview today...so maybe you'll still get one? People always say that interviews are just the college's way of meeting you in person. It's nice if you get an interview, but I'm guessing that it won't hurt you if you don't have one (especially if it's because you just weren't offered the opportunity).

Lots of people get in without interviews and even more are rejected and get interviews. There are people in Philly, New York, and other areas with tons of Penn alums that aren't offered interviews, and some still get in. Interviews are more ways to ask an alum questions about the school, get information about the school, and show the admissions committee the human side of you.

This thread has some info interviewers have shared (the last few pages are Harvard alums talking about some stuff Harvard looks for and that sort of stuff).

Don't worry if you don't get one. I didn't, and things worked out just fine.

only legacy get interviews...

but that don't stop us underdogs

Penn does give interviews to non-legacies. I had mine yesterday and noone in my family went to Penn

Only legacies who can make the trip to Philly are guaranteed interviews. Everyone else has to hope to get lucky.

My daughter also did not get offered a UPenn interview and when she called they said it really doesn't make a difference and that it is not a requirement. Seems strange. Some of the other schools (Harvard, Georgetown) require an interview and she interview.ed with both of them
