I had to submit both my housing deposit and my tuition deposit before I was given financial aid. Finally yesterday in the mail I received my financial aid and it is basically nothing. I am an independent student and I only have a part time job. With the financial aid I was given there is no way I can attend. I had to empty my savings account to pay the deposits. Is there any way I can get these deposits back?

I highly doubt it; deposits are non-refundable. You could call the bursar’s office and try to make your case but, more likely than not, you will not get your deposit back.

NYU is notorious for lack of financial aid. My friend who was accepted got a $40k scholarship – 32 of which was loan money. I hope you can work something out!

^^Then you friend only got an $8000 scholarship.

True – I meant “financial aid package”

I believe you can get back the Housing deposit, but not the tuition deposit.
