NEW! 2009 Goldman Sachs Operations Internship Hiring Status

I dont understand why do you look down on people who got in operation. Is it because you applied and you didn't get in or you are just an ass and like to make people feel bad? so seriously, ifecollegeguy.... stop!

I have been offered GS Ops summer internship, and I dont appreciate what lfecollegeguy is saying, mainly because he doesnt know what he is talking about.

To answer you question, I actually do know three people who did Operations as Goldman Sachs. One guy used his leverage at Goldman to set up a job tradidng fixed income at Credit Suisse within two years. Pretty commendable, Id say.

Another guy worked at GS Ops for 3 1/2 years, then moved over to I-banking. Now is an MD at GS. Again, not too bad.

The last guy didnt stay in Finance. That's ok though, after working at Goldman Sachs for 2 years he left to go to law school. He's 2L at Harvard Law school.

Heyyy!
Don’t give up hope yall, I interviewed with them at a Conference back in October and hadn’t heard back from them until this morning and got offered a summer internship in SLC  plus im not even in finance, im an engineer so just be patient!

but its kind of scary because I am from Texas & i’ve never even been up there before ha but hey, it will be worth it! Has anyone found where to live yet?

“Conference in October”? Was it by chance the Grace Hopper conference for women in computing? I got my internship with GS from there!

I’m so excited to be there this summer! It seems like their formal hiring process takes awhile, although if you have questions, the HR people are very prompt and helpful in their responses.

Does GS care much about college coursework?

physics08, what’s your major? I mean during the interview, one of the interviewer did ask me about which class I found most interesting/difficult, so I guess to a certain extend they do, but def not the most important thing on ur resume… but thats just my personal opinion.
Dragongirl88, are you interning for operation? or some other department?
and congrats on getting the internship :)

just out of curiosity, is it easy to transfer from one location to another? ie from nyc to chicago in gs? does anybody know??? any advice is appreciated

I was a Civil Engineering student and did the Goldman Salt Lake Ops intern last summer. I wrote a review of my experience with the internship.

I hope this helps you all get a good feel for what the internship was like.
