Hi,

Just a few questions from a transfer 2nd year student about Managment:

I took CalcI & Calc II in my old college. They were requirements to getting into McGill. Does this mean I would still have to take Linear Algebra? Because I know for CEGEP students that had to already have Calc I & Linear Algebra but for regular transfers you had to have Calc I & II.

I am in Gen. mangament stream and am not sure how it works. Do I HAVE to pick a major or can I not work have two concentrations?

Thanks!

haha, they would definately not require you to take the science linear algebra course. if they did, half of the management kids would fail out. they might make you retake the second math course for management kids, which is..math 132 I believe. I may be wrong about the number. it's called math for management. math for management basically covers linear algebra, basic probability and statistics, differentiation, and probably some integration. I didn't take it myself, but most of my friends did.

You can pick two concentrations. In fact, you're supposed to pick concentrations as opposed to majors. you can do a major and minor or a major and electives, but I think most people take 2 concentrations, which has less credits than a major but more than a minor.

WHEW!!! Thanks so much bittersweet, you just made my day! The college I come from has Calculus classes designed specifically for Business so I'm pretty sure I won't have to do all that.

Is finance at McGill a concentration or a major?

Finance is both a concentration and major -- it really depends on how much in depth you want to study it.
