New accounting graduate student looking for career advice

I recently graduated from a state university with a degree in Business Management. I got a few job offers, but none of them interested me, so I decided to switch my career path to accounting and got admitted into a graduate accounting program (Master of Science in Accounting) at a different university. I had always been interested in accounting, but did not study it as an undergrad because I would not have been able to graduate on time. By May 2013, I am planning on completing the educational requirements for the CPA exam.

All of this sounds great as I am only adding one more year to my education, but there is one thing that I am worried about. The only relevant work experience I have is a marketing internship during the summer before my senior year, and this has nothing to do with accounting. Even if I pass the CPA exam in May 2013, will I have trouble finding full-time accounting opportunities because of the lack of experience? Should I consider an internship during Fall 2012 or Spring 2013? The problem with trying to get an internship is that I basically have no background in accounting and do not know how to do anything as of right now. I am sure that companies are looking to hire interns that have at least some knowledge of financial or managerial accounting. Should I take my time with this and try to get an internship for Summer 2013 after I take the CPA exam?

Thanks and I would appreciate any suggestions.
