Thanks.. All comments and suggestions welcomed and appreciated!

your in I think

Dude, you have absolutely no chance…

…of being rejected

I will say that senior year is much less important than Freshman-Junior years for GPA, but everything else you’ve listed backs you up on that. Also, high-five to fellow soccer ref!

I don’t know if it’s so cut and dry. His ACT score is way above average, but his GPA is way below average. I’m not sure how the Adcom will balance out those two things.

Thanks for the input. I do not see it as cut and dry either. If I did, I would not be posting. I really want to attend GT. It is one of those situations that if I knew the damage my GPA was going to cause (limiting my choices) things may have been different. But, I was not thinking about that in 10th grade.

I figured that if I do not get in, I will try to transfer after freshman year.

Any advice on where to best go to school that will help me get into GT as a trasferee?

Thanks.

If you retook an F and got an A, ask to have the F expunged and replaced with the A. What’s the point in retaking a class but to learn the material? If you’ve done that you deserve the grade.

Thanks for advice. My high school is strick on expunging. Does not exist. They will not even recognize my A. They list the A as a “pass” which does not compute on my GPA.

If your sole goal is to ultimately attend GT, your best option is to attend another technical school in the University System of Georgia then transfer over (Armstrong Atlantic, Southern Poly, Georgia Southern, etc).

In your situation, though, I would apply to other good engineering schools and see where you get in. You’re a lock in a low first tier school (VaTech, TAMU, UF, etc).

Thanks for the advice. I visited GT and I visited 10 other schools that offer my decided major. I am already “in” as an automatic in a low first tier school. I am stuck on GT however as every aspect of the program is what I want. In my other searches there was not even a distant second choice.

The only thing that I did not like about GT is its location in Atlanta. But other than that, it fits well with my goals and objectives for undergraduate studies. I will consider the transfer-froms prospects.

Thanks again!

Still apply to GT. It doesn’t hurt to just copy and past those essays, fill out an extra application, and send your scores. You might get pleasantly surprised.

Don’t worry too much about your gpa, I still believe very good EC’s and a strong essay got me in because my test scores certainly didn’t! There’s people here who had HS gpa’s less than 3.0…don’t forget our acceptance rate is like 60%

Athletes…

Are you out-of-state? I couldn’t find out where “Southern State Private College Preparatory” is located.

In a case like this, I always bring up my freshman-year neighbor, who was admitted with a 2.9 GPA but very high SAT. He was not recruited for athleticism or ability to perform in some non-sport intercollegiate activity. But, he is out-of-state, and he pays full freight.
