New ACT Official Book Needed?

Given the new double reading passage, change of 7 to 6 science passages, increase difficulty in math, and entirely new essay, isn’t it about time ACT released a new official practice book?

I really think they should as its unfair for many students who are not aware of the changes. Imagine going into the September test and seeing this new essay? It would seem to disadvantage many under privileged children, and help the privileged.

I also don’t see why they WOULDNT do it, as its just more money for them…

At the very least they should be releasing sample response essays for the new format so we can see what they want.

Standardized tests in general is a disadvantage many under privileged children .

I totally agree, btw!

PLEASE its so unfair for the people taking it September. I at least want to know what like a 12 would be like on the new essay and apparently they are having a new scoring thing for it too

Here is a sample writing prompt

@HereToHelpYou I know they have a sample writing prompt, what I am asking for are sample responses. They can give us the prompt, but I have no idea how their ‘rubric’ will truly manifest itself without some sample 12 scores or 9 scores, etc…

It seems pretty clear cut, @aplangq.

What else do you need.

Most colleges don’t look at the essay score. So IMO the difference in a 9 and a 12 isn’t going to be a deciding factor in whether you are admitted or not.

@HereToHelpYou

He said a grading rubric.

@MichiganGeorgia Well they do see it, and if you are applying for an English major like I am they probably do see that difference. For many students it is important and the ACT has an obligation to let the whole population that is taking its test know of its changes. Its not only writing, but also the new reading passage and the new science format.

And @ThatOneWeirdGuy Lol I know I said that twice -__-
