new act taker (need help!)

hey, im taking the act for the first time in october
and i have a few questions:
1) what is the red book? who is it by?
2) where can i get copies of the actual test (besides the red book)
3) how do i practice the writing section? how is it different from the SAT and how does the science section work?

Thanks
please answer, i have less then two months to study!! any advice would be nice :)

Well, there are two red books:

the official one, The Real ACT Prep Guide (http://www.amazon.com/Real-Guide-guide-include-tests/dp/0768919754/ref=pd_bbs_2/105-1549645-7878013?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1189044567&sr=8-2)

and the Princeton Review one (it has a red binding and people who told me about it called it a red book):
http://www.amazon.com/Cracking-2007-College-Test-Prep/dp/0375765859/ref=pd_sim_b_3/105-1549645-7878013?ie=UTF8&qid=1189044567&sr=8-2

I would get both. The official one has three practice tests, and the other one has really good writing practice and a bunch of tests too.

ACT is less screwy than SAT. It doesn't have all the tricks, but you gotta nail your timing.

Thank you!
Any more advice?
