yes, I definitely understand that but do you not agree that the majority of those admitted to HYMS is going to be less likely to seek validation or help even, from an internet forum? I'm sure that a large portion of HYMS admits didn't apply to Brown at all, either because they were already going to a better or similar school.

Again, doesn't explain the discrepancy entirely but I think it's worth taking note. I for one hope that the rate is higher than they said because Brown may be one of the schools I apply to next year.

all you'd have to do is look at the different forums to get an idea of how many applicants frequent them, and look at the stats listings. there are about 50 more people who applied/will apply to Harvard on those listings than Brown ( I dont have the time to go through the whole thing and take it apart, sorry) 32 accepted or attending for 2011 at Harvard. coincidently the same # for Brown.

what does that prove at all? Haven't you studied statistics, and if so you should know that CC is far too biased a sample to make such sweeping generalizations as Brown lied about it's transfer statistics.

I never implied that I was right in my theory, I was simply pointing out one example of a multitude or reasons why it is silly to make such broad conjectures.

why is everyone so skeptical? sometimes strange things happen. maybe its really weird that so many people were accepted from the forums, but hey it happened.

renix, if you dont mind me asking, did you apply for financial aid?

this kinda scares me: "All transfer applicants will be admitted to Brown on a need-aware basis starting for the 2005-2006 academic year. Need aware means that financial need will be taken into account in making the admission decision. Financial assistance is available on a limited basis to assist transfer students, who enter fall 2005 or later, in covering the cost of a Brown education."

I called the admissions office and asked how many students they accepted and they said 85. I asked if that was the number that matriculated and she said no, she didn't know how many had matriculated, but they accepted 85 out of 1000+. So there, you bastards :)

I agree with Renix on this one. To conclude that the admissions numbers must be higher just because there were a lot of people on CC who got in is absurd.

CC isn't really a credible source for much of anything - it doesn't mean it's a little weird to see significantly more accepted than rejected when brown took very few.
