Before all of the new cadet candidates are shipped off to R day and say their 90 second goodbyes, are there any "must do's"? Also, everyone knows not to be "that guy" but is there anything that we definitely should do? Any good suggestions for from now until the end of plebe year?

don't use that 90 seconds to say goodbye. say your goodbyes in the hotel before reporting. Those 90 seconds were the hardest part of beast for me, and you'll understand it on your R-day when the cadet in the red sash finishes his or her well rehearsed speech and says "you have 90 seconds". everyone to stand up and starts crying, its incredibly unpleasant.

It is a good idea to get a passport. Once you get to WP, you probably won't have the time, but you will eventually need one. Better to have it and not use it for a semester or two, than to need it and not have it.

Don't take it with you for R-Day. Better to take it back with you after Thanksgiving or Winter Breaks.

When we show up with everything should we have out name written on everything? Also, during the academic year, what do Plebes do on the weekends? Do they have any time to relax? Can they have music or anything? Is it true that you are penalized for napping ect?

Plebes can't nap at all during BCT, but once the academic year starts you can nap any time you want so long as you dont have a class or some other duty.
As a plebe you can make most of your weekends really fun, or they can be boring. I know people who do both and it really comes down to attitude, the clubs they are in, and of course a willingness to "bend" rules.
Music, as well as movies are "earned" at different times depending on your company. My company didn't technically allow plebes to listen to music until october and movies in march. But everyone does anyway behind closed doors.

-Definitely get that passport renewed if it will expire soon.
-Get in good shape.
-Spend time with friends and family.
-Study the essential math concepts that they send you out, especially if you aren't very strong in math. You will be given placement tests during BCT, and doing well will help you later on.

I saw this posted on the AFA thread "Yeah, um, you'll get used to showering with 20 other naked girls. It wasn't new to me, since my high school volleyball team and I just stripped wherever and whenever, but some girls were clearly uncomfortable. Don't even worry about it. It's just naked bodies. You're too busy trying to shower in two minutes or less that you won't even care." I was just wondering if it was the same situation with West Point. Sorry its kinda a stupid question.

well, I cant say for sure, cuz Im not a cadet... yet ;) but at SLS this summer, we all showered together. A lot of the girls were uncomfortable, but it really wasnt that big of a deal. I would think as long as you dont look around, you would be fine. But I guess we'll see

The situation is the same at West Point. You are always in a hurry though so it is nothing more then get in, get out, and get on with whatever you have to do next and don't be last.

Here at USAFA, on day 1 of basic, they lined all 30 or so of us guys up outside the shower and said: "Ok, you have 1 minute. Go." So for about a minute, a whole bunch of naked guys were running around trying to get about 5 seconds in the shower, in many cases doubling up in each one. When you're in that kind of situation, you really don't care about modesty. It's not gay unless you make eye contact. :)

Ok thanks guys...so is it like stalls or just like one open shower? I'm sure I won't really care then but now... well, it seems kinda awkward...
