I've been reading this forum for a while and finally decided to join. I'm currnetly in the application process with the Naval Academy for the Class of 2012. My Candidate File was completed in September with exception of my CFA which was compleated last week. My Nomination Applications were also turned into my Congressman and Senators two weeks ago. And I reaceived my Letter of Assurance on October 15 (It was dated October 5). All I have left to do is to receive a Nomination and be cleared by DoDMERB. I was DQ'd this summer because of my vision, but am currently in the waiver process. I have my remidial eye exam at the end of the month and should be good to go after that. Other than that all I have to do is wait and pray that an Offer of Appointment shows up in the mail (which is probably the most stressful part).

Anyway, a little bit about me. I'm a High School Senior just like most of you other applicants. I run Cross Country and Track for my school and compeat in Karate, Rifle Shooting, and Skeet Shooting.

Anyway, I just though I should introduce myself. I've seen a lot of good info on this forum that has helped me through the process. So, thanks you guys for all the help you've given so far and all that I'm sure I'll learn in the future here.

First off Steve, welcome, and congratulations! Sounds like you're solidly on your way. And, you are right; the waiting is the toughest!

Candid8, read Steve's second paragraph... This is the place that bulletandpima was pointing out.

(Steve...you might want to use a spellchecker. Complete, compete, remedial.)

Where in Seattle? My four were all born there and went to Seattle Schools in their earlier years. (My youngest son is now at USNA Class of 2011)

stop making such a big deal out of one misused word. This is an online forum after all. there have been at least 5 useless comments dedicated to this minuscule mistake.

CFA is pass/fail. You don't need to take it again unless you did not reach the minimum standards posted. They just want to make sure you are physically able to handle the demands of Plebe summer. The CFA is not a competitive item like grades, SAT/ACT, varsity sports, leadership roles etc. It's nice to say, "I maxed the pull-ups," but it will not really affect your package when it goes in front of the Admissions Board. Nominations and passing Dodmerb are a lot more important!
