Hi, I was just wondering if anyone out there could rate my chances of being accepted to the University of Notre Dame, class of 2011. I applied RA, because I didn' feel my stats were strong enough to be even a little competitive in the EA pool...and I think it was a good choice. Here they are:

Stats:
SAT: 1430/1600...2140/2400
SAT IIs: None taken.
ACT: Didn't take it..
GPA: 93.5% weighted. We only see our weighted GPA, so I have no idea what it is unweighted.
Rank: I'm not sure of the exact rank, because it has changed since I initially recieved it, but I'm in the top 10% of 327 students. Not in the top 5%, unfortunately...more like top 8-9%
Other stats: AP Scholar (5's on AP American, AP English - Lang. & Comp., and AP Psychology)...tons of extracurriculars, 6 varsity letters, team captain, student council, NHS, etc. And I have a lot of awards and honors...

Subjective:
Essays: Good
Teacher Recs: Good...I didn't read them but it was a great teacher who loved me and can write well
Counselor Rec: Again, never read it, but my counselor really likes me, so I'm guessing it was good.
Hook (if any): Legacy, my dad graduated class of '81. A few other relatives graduated from ND, but I doubt they are taken into account unless they are parents.

Location/Person:
State or Country: New York
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Other Factors: In total, I've taken 16 honors classes in my high school career and 8 of them have been APs. My GPA was really bad as a freshman...my small Catholic junior high school didn't prepare me well enough (it closed down the year after). Without counting my freshman grades I would have around a 96% GPA and be one of the top 10-15 students in my class. My grades show a significant upward trend, each year my GPA gets higher and higher.

All right, those are my stats. I know they are lower than Notre Dame's average stats, but I do have the legacy status. Please rate my chances, and don't be too nice. I'd rather hear bad news now and have time to prepare for a rejection letter than feel optimistic and then be heartbroken in April...

I think your GPA might be a little low ( wish I had had one like that) but your other stats are good. And your grades reflect an upward trend which is important and legacy should give you that extra edge. You should definately go for it.

u r in i would say
here look at my stats and i got in so...
Decision: [Accepted]

Stats:

SAT: [1250/1790, 560 V, 690 M]

SAT IIs: [650 math2c, 650 US history, 800 chinese with listening]

GPA: [92.47 out of 100]

Rank: [top 10%]

Other stats: [2 on AP English, 3 AP US, 4 AP Cal]

Subjective:

Essays: [wrote about my life, i would say boring but hey i got in]

Teacher Recs: [2 teacher recs, 1 physics(i got 99 for this class and we went on a service trip, 1 math (one of the man i respect the most]

Counselor Rec: [great]

Hook (if any): [None offical i would say but i did have my grammar school principal write me one, she LOVES me]

OMG I AM SO HAPPY, no ND scholar, but hey i got in
as u can see my sat scores are pretty low, GPA is alright, i guess my race and letters from counselors, teachers, and principal.

yes, i was really surprise by the fact that i ACTUALLY got in. with my stats i was just hoping for a deferred letter lol.
so again u are for certain, in, unless, they changed all of sudden.

haha I wouldn't say for certain. I don't think there is any way to tell for sure if you're gonna get into Notre Dame. It seems like they reject a lot of extremely well qualified applicants...but hopefully my stats will be enough, and we'll be in the same class next year.

I talked to him on AIM tonight, and he said that he was a minority. That could have been his hook...he also got into Boston College.

But just think of it this way, chillin til 08...if you don't get in next year as a freshman, just do what I plan to do if I don't get in, and transfer. We can still get our degrees from Notre Dame.

The only thing i worry about with transfering is the whole social aspect of it... im worried everyone will already have made their friends and such and its not 100 % that you will get on campus housing... because i know irish didnt.....

but hey little K....... we wont have to worry bout it.. because we will get in on our first try and wont even have to worry bout transfer stuff ( knock on wood)

Chilli to answer ur question i am no legacy, but a fact about my history, i am the a first generation immigrant in the US, and my parents didnt complete high school (u no those section where they ask whether ur parents attend school and wat degree). As for my essay goes, i wrote about the hardship being an immigrant in this country, and how i work really hard at everything.
