FSU - College of Business

To be built on the site of the old Conradi (Bio) building that is empty.

That is an impressive building!

I guess my son, who is an incoming freshman, will be able to visit it during a Homecoming Weekend someday.

I saw the drawings…VERY impressive!

They are raising private funds for the financing of the project. Makes me want to make a small donation.

Please do.

I’ve already quadrupled my unrestricted gifts since Barron’s arrival.

P2N, I too donate and have upped my donation’s since Barron’s arrival. But I think I will send a check specifically for this project. What a grand plan.

Great idea. I’ll have to consider that too.

Get your donation check in mail today before 6:00 p.m., and might as well give FSU the deed to your house too–today is Judgement Day. Too, wear your best Seminole gear today and you’ll get a front seat when the rapture train pulls out.

Well, it is likely too late as the rapture will take out USPS as well…hehe.

Did you know that some will go and some will have to stay? Saints will go first. Sinners will be left. It will be sad that all the Seminoles will be gone, leaving only the Gaytors.

Gatorzone TV today is doing an all Seminole football highlights TV marathon today so gators can load up, see the light, and can get right quick before takeoff at 6.

hahahaha they got it right!

Construction is forever screwing up traffic (both pedestrian and street). >_<
The COB buildings are fine as they are imo, but I guess the higher ups know what’s best.

Wonder if a new parking garage is planned with the bigger COB bldg.? A new 500 space parking garage would add maybe $10 million to the project. If FSU had extra money to burn, a new student union bldg. for everyone to use would be nice. I guess new construction projects are probably on the back burner now with money in FSU’s budget so tight right now.

FSU actually did a survey last year among the student population (I want to say it was during Spring '10 semester) asking if we supported a “small increase” in student fees to help fund a new student union. If I recall, the results were astoundingly against the new building. I voted it down personally because they really didn’t have enough details about the new building- no sketches, no estimated cost, etc.

You’re probably right about the new construction being mostly halted due to budget cuts. I am going to venture a guess and say that’s why the funding of this new COB building is going to come from “mostly private” funds.

It is a nice looking building, I will say that.

Compare the current College of Business Rovetta buildings to those of the Chemistry Department. The difference is astounding.

These new building renderings compare closer to the Askew Student Life Buildings, Career Center, and Center for Global Engagement. That’s a good direction to be moving in, if you ask me.

I’m not even a business grad and I want to help get this built. I love the stock ticker! If they can make this happen as shown I’ll be thoroughly impressed.

It is a grand vision which I will support as well.

Pasbal, were the students against the fee or the building? I’m betting they were just against the fee. The union could definitely use an update.

They were against the fee, not the building.

I don’t really remember. It was pretty much a yes or no, with no way of expanding on your thoughts

My biggest problem with the whole thing was that it wasn’t detailed. I wouldn’t mind a new student union (granted, construction likely wouldn’t have even started till after I left FSU), but unless I know exactly how much more the “small fee” would have been, what the new union would look like, etc, I wasn’t going to vote yes on paying more when the costs of going to FSU were already increasing rapidly.

I know that Valdosta State University got a new student union this past year that cost $42 million. If the FSU student population was to fully fund a student union at that same cost, it would be over $1000 per student.

We could use a new union, but I can’t justify forking over $1000 for something I’m never going to use. Plus, FSU already gets enough fees from students.
