New Common App Essay topic: Is this too heavy of a topic?

Hello everyone! I just need some advice with my common app essay. I chose the first prompt which says, "Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story."

I wrote an essay in which I described a friendship I had with someone, and how this friendship/experience shaped who I am today and how I want to pursue my future. But in the essay, I was going to talk about how my friend at one point suffered from a very severe mental disorder, and I'm not sure if this is too sensitive of a topic. I did not go into too much detail about the disorder itself in the essay, the focus is more so on how this experience affected me in a positive way. Is this an okay topic? What do you guys think? Just need some advice before I send it.

It sounds just fine to me

It sounds fine, however don’t focus too much on the disorder. The essay should be about you.
