<p>Does anyone know what drove the change and new appointment, as the current Dean is staying as a professor in the business school? Is it a strategic change in direction?</p>

<p>I don’t know about this particular change, but like department chairs, sometimes professors that are Deans or Associate Deans get tired of the administrative duties and the politics of being in an administrative position. They just want to go back to teaching. The fact that the former Dean is staying tells me it was completely voluntary, that he gave Tulane notice, they did a search, and it looks like they got an outstanding person. Tulane is really on a roll with some high profile hirings!</p>
